What is contextual video? Well, contextual video is an off-shoot or “relative” of contextual ads, where the advertising reflects the content of a web page where that ad appears. An example of this is the Google AdSense program. Contextual video is where the ads on a web page are related to the video that someone’s watching that’s embedded on that page.
Back in 2006, I had the insight to create this site, and follow the contextual video industry. Back in 2006 to roughly 2010, the contextual video industry was growing–and now a lot of the technology has been integrated into the advertising that we see today, in 2014.
Companies have come and gone in the contextual video industry, but some are still alive and well today.
